AquaCon Group’s initial primary focus is the production of high quality C1/C2 crablets. The crablets will be grown in controlled conditions allowing AquaCon Group to offer their crablets with a SPF certification and disease testing to ensure the healthiest crablets available on the international market. This certification can also provide our customers with piece-of-mind that product purchased through AG will not contain any pathogens that could contaminate existing stock.
Broodstock selected from multiple regions in Queensland, Australia, will be used as the first generation of the selective breeding program for crablet production. This diversity in population will allow AquaCon Group to produce crablets with the strongest genetics focused on fast growth, disease resistance and less aggressive temperaments. Subsequent generations will be bread from stock selected for desirable traits with minimal requirement on wild stock for genetic diversity in the future.
Australia has a population of mud crab that has considerably less pressure from both recreational and professional fishing than compared to other countries where mud crab are native. This lack of selective pressure for smaller crabs and negligible inbreeding depression, means the Australian mud crab to grow to very large sizes in a very short amount of time. AquaCon Group’s customers can rest assured, that if you introduce their crablets into your aquaculture facilities you will increase profits due to shorter grow out times and disease resistance leading to a considerable increase in production.
